Greeting

Welcome to the website of The Institute for National Security Strategy

The Institute for National Security Strategy, which stems from the erstwhile Research Institute for International Affairs (RIIA) with a history of thirty years, is a government-funded public research institute that was newly inaugurated in February, 2008, in order to proactively comply with the rapid change of the international security environment as well as around the Korean peninsula.

The INSS has so far addressed a wide range of in-depth policy alternatives with regards to diplomacy, national security, economic policy and inter-Korean issues. While strengthening research capabilities on North Korean matters, the INSS has expanded its scope of research to the field of new national security issues that embrace the making of future strategies, global terrorism, and international crimes.

Taking this opportunity, the INSS has significantly achieved its research capabilities necessary to create policy alternatives aimed at winning the ever more intensifying global competitiveness battle and to maximize national interests. On top of this, the INSS as a governmental research institute takes a pride in organizing the most suitable and competitive system in terms of the fact that research achievements are being reflected in national policy decisions.

We can assure you that the INSS will continue to make its best efforts, keeping in mind that our main mission is to play a leading role in national development and creation of national interests in the information age of the 21st century where the speed of the globalization is increasing.

We expect your support and cooperation.

Director of the Institute for National Security Strategy
